Polyethylene (PE) and, to a lesser extent, polypropylene (PP) are used in yarn production while backing fabrics are predominantly made of PP.
Issues can include:
- Low-Grade Resin which can fade
- Wear down prematurely (excessive fillers)
- skimping on the resin quality and fillers
- poor – quality latex backings that could cause them to crack and crumble
- Lead in Artificial Turf
- Short lifespan – Some have a life span of 3-4 years
